Saleem’s Kebab House is an authentic Indian restaurant that specialize on authentic Indian food that is typical to any Indian Restaurants.
It is found along the right side of Campos St. near the EastWest Bank in Centro, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
The restaurant is pretty new and not that popular to the mass.
Note: This was our first tasting Indian Cuisine let alone enter an Indian Restaurant.
Entering the restaurant a huge painting in the side wall greeted us, it was a chef wearing a fez rather than the usual chef’s hat. Along with it is the slightly spicy aroma that was enshrouding the whole restaurant. From that point we knew that we entered a restaurant that will change our perspective towards Indian food.
A few minutes after we ordered, the food finally arrived. We were at awe because of the smell, color and visual presentation of the Masala. The Paratha wasn’t served yet, which seemed like the longest minutes of our lives in that restaurant.
Finally the Paratha came, we were at joy just seeing the fried dough entering the four corners of our table. The minutes seemed like seconds before we realized that we already finished the food.
The Paratha was the PERFECT spoon to scoop the thick sauce of the Chicken Masala. It completely balanced the salty, tangy and spicy taste of the masala. Sure enough, our eyes voluntarily closed on each bite of the dough wrapped juicy morsels.
Their combination was nothing short of a miracle.
TASTE
The Chicken Masala is salty, tangy, spicy, sweet and juicy. On its own its wonderful, but when its paired with the Paratha a buttery, fried dough that was a little bland but was perfect on balancing the taste of the masala. They are meant for each other.
SMELL
The restaurant was enshrouded by a thick cloud of greatness. The combination of herbs and spices made the smell of Masala uniquely different from all the foods we had smelled before. Yet it is still inviting and also is parallel to its taste.
VISAUL LOOK
The look was a bit underwhelming because of the amount of Masala Sauce that was covering the actual Chicken. The sauce is thick and you can clearly see the different spices floating in the plate. It was like a treasure hunt on a visible pot of gold.
PRICE
It was a bit pricey if you were a student buying these food. The masala is 200 pesos and each Paratha is 20 pesos. Compared to other expensive restaurants the price is definitely worth it. Because your getting experience, great food and a story to tell.
